Irving Jerry

Irving Charles Jerry, 87 of St. Paul Park was held by his family while he peacefully went to heaven on Aug. 24, 2016. Irving was born October 18, 1928 to Irving & Mary (Dalhgren) Jerry in St. Paul, Minnesota. He lived on the lower West side of St. Paul until the age of 14 when his family moved to St. Paul Park. He graduated from Park High School in 1946 and enlisted in the Navy after graduation. Irving was discharged in 1948 and met Shirley Kunrath while dancing on the Mississippi Queen on the river in St. Paul. They married November 23, 1950 in St. Paul Park and started their family. Irving was an auto mechanic working at his family's business Jerry's Service Garage, and taking over the business in 1995. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, he was a dedicated sports fan cheering all his favorite Minnesota teams, trips to the casino, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren, they brightened his day! He was a member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus, Men's Club at St. Thomas Aquinas, and in his younger years he was an auxiliary police office for St. Paul Park. Irving was proud of celebrating over 40 years of sobriety.
Preceded in death by parents Irving & Mary; brother Dennis; grandsons Joshua, Allen, Tommy; granddaughter Angela; great grandson Gavin. Survived by loving children Sandy (Jim) Carroll, Deanna (Tom) Dillon, Irving Jr., Bruce, Timothy (Kathy), Cindy (Pat) Schille, Michelle (John) Bell; their mother Shirley; grandchildren Brian, Shawn, Stacia, Dana, Mikel, Paul, Sarah, Joel, Heather, Adam, Matthew, Mark, Daniel, Jennifer, Ashley, Andreah, Amber; 21 great grandchildren; siblings John, Nancy (Thomas) Nelson; many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 am Tuesday, Aug 30 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (920 Holley Ave. St. Paul Park) with visitation 5-8 pm Monday at Kok Funeral Home (1201 Portland Ave. St. Paul Park) and one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Memorial preferred to donor's choice.
