Irene Klemetsrud

Irene M. Klemetsrud, 93 of Cottage Grove, passed away November 26, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was born the second oldest of nine on November 13, 1923 in Banner Township, North Dakota to Victor & Agnes(Wicorek) Bogstie. Irene grew up in Munich, North Dakota graduating from high school in 1941. After taking a year off she attended nursing school and received her nursing license in 1945. Irene met Karl Klemetsrud at the Elks Club while in nursing school. They married in 1946 and lived in Devils Lake, North Dakota until they moved their nine children to Cottage Grove, Minnesota in 1969. She worked for 3M as a nurse until retiring in 1980. Irene is survived by her sons, Karl "Riley" (Donna), Jim (Wendy) and Steven "Todd" (Debi); daughters, Karen (Orrin) Berg, Karla (Curt) Brekke, Kathy (Mike) Lyness, Pamela, Diane (Dale) Burke; 13 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, one great great grandson; sister Betty Lou Hinrichs. Preceded in death by parents, Victor and Agnes (Wicorek) Bogstie; husband, Karl; son, Kenneth; infant son, Joseph; sisters, Francis, Viola, Lila, Charlotte, Peggy; brothers, Bud, Orland. Mass of Christian Burial 11 am, Friday, Dec. 2 at The Church of St. Rita ( 8694 80th St. S., Cottage Grove) with visitation 4-7, Thur, Dec. 1 with a prayer service at 6:30, at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove) and one hour prior to mass at church. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
