Gurdie Braun

Gurdie P. Braun, age 94 of Cottage Grove, passed away Jan. 21, 2016 at the Woodbury Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be 11 am, Mon., Jan. 25, 2016 at All Saint's Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Blvd., Cottage Grove. Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Sun., Jan. 24, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S. Cottage Grove and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Gurdie was born March 20, 1921, in Sandstone, Minnesota, to John and Lena (Gerding) Palthe immigrants from Holland. She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Washington High School 1939. Gurdie worked for Western Union during World War II and also Purity Bakery in St. Paul. She was married to Clifford Braun on October 19, 1946, in St. Paul. They lived in around South St. Paul, Newport and Cottage Grove for many years. Gurdie started working for Buckbee Mears in 1958 where she was a quality control expert for 23 years. Gurdie loved fishing, bowling, reading and gardening. She was an excellent baker and canner.

Preceded in death by husband Clifford; daughter Linda Miller; sister Ann Peisert and brother John Palthe. Survived by daughter Patricia (Dan) Bigham; grandchildren Danielle (Misti) Germundson, Brian (Sarah) Bigham, Karla (John Stechmann) Bigham, Molly Miller, Rosie (sig other Jason) Miller, Greg Miller; great-grandchildren Aiden, Colin and Rubi, son-in-law Paul Miller.
