Gretchen Seifert, age 70 of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family.

Gretchen Elizabeth Seifert was born November 21, 1950 in Stillwater, Minnesota to Clifford and Edyth Olson.  From an early age she was drawn to the healthcare field and started working at a local care center when she was 16.  She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1968 and continued working as a nursing assistant.  Gretchen was united in marriage to Floyd Seifert in Watertown, South Dakota on April 7, 1973.  During her working career, she was employed at Mounds Park Hospital from 1976 to 1987 before taking a position at the Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater where she worked for 26 years.

Gretchen loved connecting with people and making them smile.  She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, antiquing and spending time with her family.

Gretchen is survived by her husband Floyd; daughter Stacia (JR) Hansen; grandchildren Madalyn, Avery, AJ, and Shelby Hansen; siblings Jann (Janie) Olson and Brenda (Rick) Yelle; as well as nieces Mona, Nikki and Amy.  She is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial service will be 1 pm, Friday, January 29, 2021 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior.  Private interment Oakland Cemetery, Star Prairie, WI.  Masks are required while in the funeral home facility.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to accommodate gatherings while abiding to a 50% capacity at the facility. The use of face masks by attendees is required at indoor events, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep your families safe.
