Gordon Pederson, age 81 of Cottage Grove, passed away on July 16, 2021.

Funeral service will be 11 am, Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held at Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Gordon was born on October 7, 1939 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Roy and Inez Pederson.  At the age of 12 the family moved to Echo, Minnesota.  He graduated from Echo High School in 1957 where he was active in sports but excelled in baseball.  While in high school he met the love of his life, Elaine Rebers and they were united in marriage on June 16, 1962.

They lived in houses in St. Paul, Maplewood and Woodbury and he was very handy in finishing off the basement spaces.  Through the years he coached his son Paul’s baseball team and loved spending time with his kids.  He followed the stock market, traveled to various placed and in his later years he enjoyed reading and doing puzzles.

Gordy was a cement mason who was known as a dedicated and skilled worker and operated his own business for 20 years, Area Cement Company.  He enjoyed working side by side and passed on a solid work ethic to his children.  He went on to serve as a foreman for Arrigoni Brothers until his retirement in his early 60’s.  Gordy was proud of his Norwegian heritage and enjoyed spending time with grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents Roy Sr. and Inez.  Survived by his wife Elaine; children Paul (My Hoa Doan), Catherine Pederson, Karen (Donald) Evazich; grandchildren Michael, Casey, Cory, Jason, Amber, Hunter and Harley; great-granddaughter Natalie; siblings Roy Jr. (Gale), Audrey (Lowell) Johnson as well as nieces and nephews and many friends.
