Geraldine Marko

Geraldine L. "Gerry" Marko, age 67, of Cottage Grove, passed away December 12, 2016 at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Memorial Service 11:30 AM, Sun., Dec. 18, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation starting at 10 AM. Reception for family and friends following the service at the American Legion Post 98, 328 Broadway Ave., St. Paul Park.

Geraldine Lynn "Gerry" Marko was born in Clear Lake, South Dakota on September 1, 1949 to Ronald and Betty (Nagel) Tol. She graduated from Summit High School in 1968 and started working for Schmidt Music Company in St. Paul a few years before working for the American Red Cross. Geraldine was married to Ronald Marko on November 14, 1970 and they built their first home in Cottage Grove in 1979. She continued to work for the American Red Cross and retired in 2009. They enjoyed the winter months in Arizona after retirement and joyfully welcomed their first grandchild in 2014. Gerry enjoyed summer weekends at the lake in Wisconsin, babysitting Cora, reading, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Survived by daughters, Catherine Ann Smith and Betty Jean (Cory) Ebsen; and granddaughter, Cora Ebsen; siblings, Dennis (Signe) Tol, Edi Albers, Linda Rensvold, Vicki Leonard, Kevin (Cindy) Tol, Melanie (David) Welicka, John (Leslie) Tol, and Laura (Greg) Cronen; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Ronald; parents, Ronald and Betty Tol; brothers-in-law, Sam Leonard, Dennis Marko, and John Marko; and son-in-law, Noah Smith.
