George E. ?Stub? Kemp, 81, of Saint Paul Park, passed away on Thursday evening, July 17, 2008 at the Woodwinds Health Campus in Woodbury following a short illness.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at the Community United Church of Christ in St. Paul Park, with the Reverend Janet Shannon, officiating. Burial was in Basswood Grove Cemetery. Memorials in his name can be made to the American Cancer Society. The Kok Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. www.kokfuneral.com
George E. Kemp was born December 8, 1926 in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, the son of Willis Ephraim and Phoebe Marcelle (Davies) Kemp. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the 11th Airborne. He was united in marriage to Ruth C. Boche on October 21, 1949 in Saint Paul. Stub was employed as a Tank Farm Operator for many years for the 3M Corporation and had served on the Saint Paul Park Fire Department for over 17 years.
He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed refinishing old steamer trunks.
George is Survived by wife, Ruth of saint Paul Park, daughters; Valerie (Albert) Berg of Pine City, Leslie (Mark) Colbeth of Roseville, son, Steven (Lisa) Kemp of Harrisburg, Virginia, six grandchildren; Kristian (Chrissy) Rehnberg, Gabriel, Phoebe & Caroline Kemp, Lauren & Lindsay Colbeth, great-granddaughter, Emma Jean, his sister, Marjorie (Sylvan) Odegard of Stillwater, brother, David (Margaret) Kemp of Saint Paul Park and many nieces and nephews.
