Frederick Hartfiel

February 23, 1931 — March 14, 2014

Frederick D. Hartfiel, age 83, of Cottage Grove passed away on March 14, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by wife of 58 years, Patricia (nee Peterson); parents, Fredrich and Elsa (nee Schultz); sister, LaVerne Dodd and brother, Kenneth. Survived by son, F. Scott (Renita); daughters, Lisa, Karen (Michael) Harer, and Janet (Tom) Campbell; grandchildren, Anita (Bob) Wiener, Brian (Callie) Harer, Chad Harer, Colleen Harer (Sean Lichtsinn), Ashley (Christian) Duran, Josh (Lisa) Campbell, Mitch Campbell, Zach Hartfiel, and Alex Campbell; nine great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Julene Hartfiel, and Judith (Richard) Davis; and many other extended family and friends.

Fred proudly served as a US Marine during the Korean War and later retired from MnDOT. He was a talented musician and dance band member.

Visitation 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove with visitation continuing one hour prior to the service at church. Funeral Service 11 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church, 6875 Jamaica Ave., Cottage Grove. Interment to follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Memorials preferred.
