Francis Langreck

Francis J. Langreck, age 82 of Cottage Grove, passed away January 15, 2019.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Church of St. Rita, 8694 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior.  Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Francis John Langreck was born June 18, 1936 in Neillsville, Wisconsin to Ferdinand and Cecilia (Wilson) Langreck.  He grew up in nearby Greenwood and entered active duty in the US Army.  Frank, or as his family referred to him as Sonny, was stationed in Germany for a few years before being transferred to Oklahoma.  It was in Germany that he met Maria Grunzweig and they were married on March 17, 1958 in Germany.  They moved to Minnesota where he worked for Gold Medal as a delivery driver and Lindsey’s in Woodbury.  He retired from North Star Steel where he worked as a Hydraulic Technician after many years.  Frank enjoyed fishing, boating on the St. Croix and spending time at their cabin.  He had a tender and likable personality who made friends easily.  His family will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maria; siblings Mary (Frank) Trunkel, Josie Linder, Janet (Neil) Krause, Bob (Elaine) Langreck, Pat (Dick) Scherer and Joe (Mary) Langreck as well as many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by parents Ferdinand and Cecilia; brothers Greg and Donny and infant sister Cecilia and brother-in-law Sam Linder.
