Floyd Johnson

Floyd W. Johnson, age 81 of Cottage Grove, died December 11, 2014 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Memorial service will be 3:00 pm Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation starting at 1:00 pm until the time of service. Interment will be Friday, December 19th at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Floyd William Johnson was born July 20, 1933 in St. Paul to James and Marie (Rieger) Johnson. He grew up in North St. Paul and attended Washington High School. He worked at Applebaum's Grocery Store as a store clerk for a few years before entering active duty in the US Army. After his military service, Floyd returned to work at the grocery store and served as a manager for several years. On December 10, 1955 he was married to Johanna "Joni" Yunker and moved to the Cottage Grove area where they raised three daughters. Floyd worked for the City of Cottage Grove where he served as a supervisor for many years until his retirement in 1995. On September 9, 2006 Floyd was united in marriage to Rose Marie (Connolly) LaBelle in Rosemount.

Floyd was a member of the FBI Auto Club and enjoyed working on old cars. He was also a proud member of the American Legion. Every year he looked forward to spending the winter months in Texas.

He is survived by his wife RoseMarie "Roma"; children, Karen (Steve) Wojtowicz, Vicki (Rick) Jones, Debra (Dale) Bauer; step-children, Barry (Gwen) Petersen, Robyn (Rich) Renfroe, Troy (Katy) Petersen; grandchildren, Laura, Jace, Lance, Melissa, Justin, Micheal, Alex, Sarah, Jennifer, Nicole, Charisse, Nels and Paige; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Evie, Summer, Tatum, Kyle, David, Anna, Jude, Theo, Scarlet, Maleea, William, Hunter and Carter; several nieces, nephews and long time friends. Preceded in death by 1st wife, Johanna "Joni"; parents, James and Marie; sister, Francis Fountain.
