Evelyn Murray

Evelyn Elaine Murray, age 80 of Cottage Grove, passed away on November 29, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn was born October 11, 1934 at her aunt's home in Bottineau County near Minot, North Dakota to William and Esther (Schultz) Teske. Evelyn grew up in Kramer, North Dakota on the family farm with two sisters and one brother. At the age of sixteen she moved to live with her sister, Doris, in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. On January 19, 1957, Evelyn married her sweetheart, Victor H. Murray. Evie and Vic built their one and only loving home in Cottage Grove, Minnesota where they raised a daughter, Becki Jo and two sons, Bryan and Bradley. When her children became of school age, she worked for the school district as a cook. Later, Evelyn became known as the "sample lady" working for the local grocery store. She ended her working career as the owner of her own cleaning business.

The most important things to Evie were her immediate and extended family, along with her "many" dear friends. Evie embraced life with an unique sense of joy, generosity and energy. Thus, Evie was known as a "social butterfly." Her calendar was always FULL!

Evie and Vic enjoyed traveling and dancing. We draw peace in our hearts knowing that Evie is once again dancing with her sweetheart.

She is preceded in death by her husband Victor; son Bradley; parents William and Esther Teske. Survived by children Becki (John) Johnson and Bryan (Theresa) Murray, grandchildren Johnny Brad (Cassie), Justin, Brent, Travis & Kayla (Irvin); great Grandsons Cody & Bradley; siblings, Doris (Virgil) Rapp, Larry Teske and Beverly (Vern) Berg; many loving nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Blvd. Cottage Grove, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 pm at the church and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment, Newport Cemetery.
