Eleanor Berger

Eleanor Marcella Berger, age 90 of Brainerd, formerly of Newport, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024.

Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 pm with a funeral service beginning at 4:00 pm, on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 - 80th Street S., Cottage Grove, MN 55016.  A graveside service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.

Eleanor was born January 18, 1934, the third oldest of six children in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Merton and Myrtle Morphew. She grew up in St. Charles where she was a graduating member of the Class of 1952. While working in Minneapolis, she met and married the love of her life, Robert Berger. They had four children and through out their years together they made their home in cities such as Newport, Minnesota; Portland, Oregon; Vancouver, Washington and after retirement enjoyed several years together in Backus, Minnesota. In her own words, she declared how blessed she had been, "I have done a lot in my life, I have no regrets."

Her family time was spent enjoying camping, boating, snowmobiling, and motorcycling.  She was an avid reader and gardener.  Eleanor was a dedicated mother whose children and grandchildren brought her much joy. She had a smile for and was a special friend to everyone.

She is survived by daughters, Vivian (Steve) Dellwo and Barbara (Bob) Garnes; and son, Ronald Berger; grandchildren, Allen (Brenda) LeCuyer, Jaclyn (Kirk) Mueller, Mike (Shannon Nord) Leisering, Chris Leisering, Marci (Chris Hall) Garnes, and Jessica (Chris Rivera) Garnes; great grandchildren, Joshua, Layla, and Ben LeCuyer, Stella, Vincent, and Renee Mueller, Emily Talcott, Lucas Leisering, Joseph Meyers, Cordelia, Ginevie, and Magnolia Garnes; great-great grandchildren, Alex, Ivan and Luciano Talcott; brother Merton Morphew.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert; daughter Diane; parents Merton and Myrtle Morphew; brothers John and Tony Morphew; sisters Jane Uthke and Phyllis Krawezeski.
