Edward Zacharias

Edward Zacharias, 80, Sturgeon Lake, died peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2016.

He was born on May 19, 1936 in Plum Coulee, Manitoba to Peter and Katherine Zacharias. Ed grew up in Winnipeg, Canada. On September 12, 1963, he married Doreen Draper in Winnipeg. In 1969, they moved to Cottage Grove and Ed worked at 3M in Maplewood as a machinist for 33 years retiring in 1998. In 2000, Ed and Doreen moved to Sturgeon Lake. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, and being outdoors. Ed was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Katherine Zacharias; sister: Kay Weaver; daughter: Diana Spiess-Davis; and daughter-in-law: Pam Zacharias.

Edward will be remembered by his wife of 52 years, Doreen; three sons: Daniel Zacharias of Winnipeg, Canada; Curtis (Christine) Zacharias of Woodbury; and Rod (Annette) Zacharias of Sturgeon Lake; sister: Esther Harris of Maplewood; a son-in-law: Butch Davis of Bloomington; 13 grandchildren: Jessica, Megan, Nicole, Michael, Beau, Ryan, Connor, Nick M., Ryan M., Nick Z., Matthew, Wesley, and Shane; 12 great grandchildren: Zachary, Skylar, Hazel, Landon, Colton, Preston, Makenzie, Michael, Malena, Dakota, Hendrix, and Asher; nephews: Larry Weaver, Terry Harris, and David Harris; and numerous cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from Noon until the 1 PM service on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Faith Lutheran Church, 16923 Farm to Market Rd, Sturgeon Lake. There will also be a visitation on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 1 until the 2 PM Time of Remembrance in Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th St., Cottage Grove followed by a private burial in Newport Cemetery, Newport, MN.
