Edna L. Snyder 94, of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, was returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 20, 2024. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, December 30, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Edna was born on June 1,1930 in Wessington Springs, to Rudolph A. and Emma (Elias) Borkowski. She married Clarence Willard Snyder on May 25, 1951.
Edna began her education at Eddy School. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School. After graduating college, she began her career as an elementary teacher. She taught school in Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. She continued her career as a homemaker while living in Utah and for 16 years she continued teaching at times and later substituting. In 1974, they moved to Minnesota for Clarence’s work with the IRS. She began working in the childcare industry with her daughter Jody. She loved teaching and working with children. Education was always very important to her no matter what level.
While living in Utah she was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a longtime member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Choir in Ogden, UT. Edna was an excellent seamstress. She made a lot of her own clothing as well as her children’s clothing, formals and bridesmaid’s dresses. She also enjoyed gardening, crafting and canning.
Edna especially loved visiting her family in Utah. (She always thought she’d move back to Utah someday). She also enjoyed attending the annual family reunions in South Dakota where she enjoyed visiting with her siblings and their families and catching up.
Edna is survived by her five children, Randy (Cheryl) Snyder, Rene’ DiMarco, Richard Snyder, Jody (Paul) Urbano and Michael Snyder; 14 grandchildren, Clint Snyder, Casey (Lisa) Snyder, Bonnie (William) Prince, Shelby (Adam) Zenger, Ondelyn Collie, Myranda (Troy) Barrow, Kayla Urbano, Kamma (Ryan) Pekarek and Leif Snyder; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence "Willard"; her parents, Rudolph and Emma Borkowski; two infant brothers, Arthur and Robert and three brothers Walter, Harold and Vernon; two sisters, Doris and Lois; one brother-in-law Herschel; one sister-in-law Esther; and her brother-in-law Marvin Snyder and his wife Edna; and one son-in-law Robert. Edna was the final surviving sibling of her immediate family.
