Edna Carson

Edna Marie Carson, age 89 of St. Paul Park, died peacefully on September 20, 2014 in her home under the attention of her loving caregivers.

Services will be 5:00 pm Wed, Sept 24, 2014 at Peaceful Grove United Methodist Church, 8600 90th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation from 3:00 pm until the time of service. Interment will be held at the Grandview Cemetery in Gary, South Dakota.

Edna Marie Carson was born November 3, 1924 in Gary, South Dakota to William and Martha (Nagle) Cornell. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Edna and her twin sister Esther moved to Oakland, California to work in the shipyards until 1945 when they returned to Minnesota. While attending a dance she met Everett Carson and they were later married in Canby, Minnesota on June 4, 1955. They moved to Willernie, Minnesota where they raised their children and enjoyed many years together.

Through the years, Edna worked at several places including the Pearson Candy Company, Twin City Ammunition Plant and also the University of Minnesota Hospital where she served as a housekeeper for 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cleaning, gardening and knitting. Edna played the accordion and also taught herself to play the piano. She loved to spend time with her family and to bless them every chance she could.

Edna is survived by her sons, Steven (Sandy) Carson; Gary (significant other Marlene Mills) Carson, grandchildren, Jacob, Carson, Jenny (Tim) Barrer, Christopher, Katlyn, Markus and Gina Carson, Scott (Lauri) Krey, Bonnie Smaker, Mary Holtz and Elizbeth Gamnis; brother Arthur Cornell; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded by her husband Everett; step-daughter, Pat (Krey) Foster; parents, Martha and William Cornell; sisters, Lena, Mary, Ruth, Rose, twin sister, Esther; brothers, Leonard and Edward and two infant siblings.
