Edith Jarousek

August 3, 1921 — May 23, 2008

Edith I. Jarousek, 86 of Newport, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008 at her home in the presence of God and her family following a lengthy illness with cancer.



Private family services were held Tuesday at Kok Funeral Home in Cottage Grove with the Reverend Brian Black, officiating. Burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.



Edith I. Jarousek was born August 3, 1921 in South Saint Paul the daughter of Oscar and Freda (Paul) Krech. She graduated from Sounth Saint Paul High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Edward Jarousek on June 26, 1942. She assisted her husband in running their family business, Ed?s Wood Products and raising their children. She was an active member of the Newport Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and served on many church circles. She was a longtime Newport resident for over 50 years. She enjoyed square dancing, time with her family and grandchildren, camping, being outdoors and traveling.



Edith is survived by her sons, Russell (Sue) Jarousek of Hugo, Robert (Paula) Jarousek of Forest Lake, her daughters, Judy Jacobs of Detroit Lakes, Barb Jarousek of Newport, nine grandchildren; Brad, Greg, Holly, Nikki, Tony (Jen), Jeff ?Jake?, Mike (Tari) and her beloved dog, Joey.

She was preceded by her husband, Edward, sister, Arlene Reis and brothers, Jack & Carl Krech
