age 90, of Cottage Grove on Tuesday March 25, 2008 at Woodwinds Hospital.
Earl Helmer was born September 16, 1917 the son of Albert & Sophie (Truska) Storlien. He was raised in Dawson and farmed in that area. On July 3, 1945 he was united in marriage to Rose Marie LaCova. He was a World War II veteran serving in European Campaign. He was an avid gardener growing both vegetables and flowers. Earl enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. He had a great appreciation for cars. He will be remembered as a man of few words, but what he said counted. Earl would never say a bad word about anybody.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rose in 1997; brothers and sisters Harold, Avis Sampson, Francis Hofseth, and Alton.
Earl is the beloved father of Robert of Cottage Grove, David of Maple Grove, Pat (Steve) Schlagel of Eagan, Mark (Pam) of Cottage Grove; grandfather of Lynn (Tim), Daniel, Michelle, Nicholas (Kelly), Natalie, Kathryn, Megan; great-grandfather of Travis, Logan, Mia; brother of Angie Wagner; many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation 4-8 PM with a 7 PM prayer service Monday April 7 and 10-11 AM Tuesday April 8 at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 7676 80TH St. S. Cottage Grove. Funeral Service 11 AM Tuesday April 8. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.
