Dwane L. Germain 82 of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Dwane was born on June 1, 1934 to Ruben & Mabel (Simon) Germain in St. Paul, Minnesota. He grew up in St. Paul, graduating from Mechanic Arts High School in 1953. After high school Dwane and his best friend Greg enlisted in the US Marines and Dwane served his country for three years. On September 30, 1961 he married Carol Ann Juelich at St. Agnes Catholic Church in St. Paul. They moved to Cottage Grove in 1964 and raised their three children. Dwane was a devoted husband caring for his wife during her 39 year battle with MS. He enjoyed spending time putzing in the garage, working in his yard; caring for his rose bushes. In his younger years he spent time fishing, playing softball, bowling. Dwane was an avid sports fan, cheering on his Minnesota Twins. He looked forward to his yearly trip with his family to the state fair for mini donuts. He was a dedicated member of St. Thomas Aquinas.
Preceded in death by wife, Carol; brother, Gorvin. Survived by children, Diane (Todd) Carlson, Doug (Marnie), Sandra (John) Malone; grandchildren, Nicole (Jesse) Tennis, Tony Swanson, Amy, Devin (Sam), Ryan Pansch, Mitchell, Bennett Malone; great grandchildren, Izzy, Avery, Aubriella; brother Ruben; sisters, Delores McElmury, Eunice Hindes; many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 Friday, Jan. 13 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (920 Holley Ave. St. Paul Park) visitation Thursday 4-8 at Kok Funeral Home (1201 Portland Ave. St. Paul Park) and one hour prior to mass at church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
