Dr. Richard A. Williams, age 82, passed away peacefully on 12/9/06. He was surrounded by those that meant the most to him. His loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Karen, his sons, Craig, Ted and Bob, and their families survives him. He was a loving husband, father and physician in the St. Paul Park, Cottage Grove and Newport, Minnesota area. He was born in 1924 Waterloo, Iowa. He was a veteran of the pacific theatre of WWII. He completed his education to become a physician at the University of Iowa, and met his future wife there. They lived in Duluth, and Rothsay Minnesota, before settling in St. Paul Park where they lived for the rest of his life. His first clinic in this area was at 316 Broadway in downtown St. Paul Park, then in 1971 he was one of the founders of Family Practitioners, which is now the clinic called Heatheast Cottage Grove. He greatly enjoyed, and took pride in his work and delivered countless babies and made countless house calls, one by horse and sleigh as recalled by Karen. He recently received an award at the Mayo Clinic for having a license to practice medicine in Minnesota for over 50 years. His hobbies and passions included genealogy, photography, travel, and most of all his family.
As were his wishes he has been cremated and services will be on Thursday, December 28th at 2pm All Saints Lutheran Church, with visitation starting at 12 noon.
Memorials are preferred to the Mission Outreach Fund at All Saints Lutheran Church.
