Dr. Henry Nippert "Nip" Smith
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Age 78, taken away suddenly by a stroke on October 19, 2010.
He will be greatly missed by wife Kathy; children Nippert C. (Cindy), David C. (Brenda), MaryAnn (Mark) Johnson; grandchildren of Stephanie, Chad, Christopher, Hamilton, Gunnar, Marisha, Juliana; sister MariLou Birkeland; many nieces & nephews.
Preceded in death by parents.
Nip was raised in St. Paul and graduated from Breck High School in 1950 and the University of MN Medical School. He worked as a general surgeon at Miller and United Hospitals for 30 years.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and skier. He was a founding member of the Lew Jewett Fly Fishing Club.
Nip will be remembered as a magnificent storyteller. He was an animal lover who especially loved his dog Sandy. Nip was an active member of the Leech Lake Gun Club and loved his fishing camp at Moose Bay.
Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery. "Skol to Nip"
