Dr. Gaylen Heggen

Dr. Gaylen K. Heggen 75 of Cottage Grove and Tucson, Arizona. died peacefully on October 26, 2016. Gaylen was born February 3, 1941 to Nyles and Esther (Solberg) in Estherville, Iowa. He grew up on his family farm in Rural Iowa near the town of Cylinder. Gaylen attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis and continued his education at the University of Minnesota Dental School. During his years in dental school he worked for Western Airlines and met Lynn Miller. They married in Las Vegas in 1969 and then settled in Cottage Grove, where Gaylen started his dental practice; Heggen DDS. In his free time Gaylen enjoyed woodworking, snowmobiling, boating, spending time with family and friends. He retired in 1998 and spent the next 18 years living in Arizona and Cottage Grove. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Lynn; children, Shannon (Peter) Sieben, Michael; grandchildren, Daisey and Joe; brother, David (Cindy); nieces, Jenny (Mike) Ecker, Tracey (Dusty) Anderson, Becky (Javier) Perez; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service 2pm Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Norris Square (8200 Hadley Ave. S. Cottage Grove).
