Douglas "Doug" Ries

Doug W. Ries, 56, of St. Paul Park, passed away on Jan. 14, 2018 at Regions Hospital.  Born on October 6, 1961 to Wayne & Catherine (Bovy) Ries in St. Paul, Minnesota, Doug grew up on St. Paul’s Eastside. He graduated in 1980 from Hill Murray High School. After high school Doug worked various jobs including at his parents liquor store and for the City of St. Paul at Lake Phalen. He was a security officer for numerous businesses for many years. In the early 1990’s he met Carol Mackley at the Rodeo in Cottage Grove. They were united in marriage on October 5, 1996 in Suomi, Minnesota. Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and cribbage. He was an avid fan of all Minnesota teams, organized holiday weekend camping trips for his family and friends, he also enjoyed trips to Vegas and gaming with his best buds.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Carol; parents, Wayne & Catherine; siblings, Rick (Ginny), Jean (Don) Karpe, Terri (Arvid) Stansbury, Pam (Paul) Pignato; longtime friends, Mark Schmitz, Bob McIntosh; furry companions, Daisy & Cleo; many other family and friends.

Memorial service NOON on Sunday, Jan. 21 with a gathering time until 2 PM at Kok Funeral Home (1201 Portland Ave. St. Paul Park)
