Douglas Wayne Johnson

Douglas "Doug" Johnson, age 72, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024 surrounded by family. 

Celebration of Life will be 2 PM on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S.; Cottage Grove, MN with a visitation from 1-2 PM. All are invited to dessert and refreshments following the service.

Doug was born on December 26, 1951 to Nolan and Joyce (Ostlund) Johnson in Minneapolis, MN. Doug grew up in Fridley, MN and entered the Air Force following high school. He served his country in the military from 1969-1975 and was a Vietnam Veteran. Doug was united in marriage to Patricia Schaeffer on February 19, 1972. They made their home and raised their three children in Brooklyn Park, MN. He worked most recently for many years at Anderson and Dahlen in Ramsey, MN. 

Doug loved music especially playing guitar and was in a band in his earlier years. He was well known for being a great cook, even using herbs from his own garden to bless his family and friends with. In his spare time he enjoyed building model airplanes, gardening, and studying history and archeology. Doug was a jack of all trades and was handy at fixing almost anything he put his mind to. He had a great sense of humor and quick wit which led to some healthy but oftentimes unsolicited and uncensored banter and even debate. Doug also had genuine care for others, he was always a good listener interested in hearing how everyone was doing. The heart of Doug's life though was his family, he will be deeply missed by all. 

Doug is survived by his wife Patricia "Pat"; children Tammie Porras, JeAnne (Brad) Petersen and Douglas "Dougie"; grandsons Hunter and Justis; granddaughter Santana; mother Joyce Johnson; brothers Bruce (Denise) and Wesley "Wes".
