Dorothy E. Thommes, age 98 of Cottage Grove, MN, formerly of Morton Grove, IL,
passed away peacefully on May 10, 2016.
Private family memorial services will be held.
Dorothy Emily (Lang) Thommes was born December 16, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Emma (Silhanek) Lang. She grew up in Riverside, Illinois and graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School. Dorothy was united in marriage to Stanley Thommes in 1941 and they moved to Morton Grove, Illinois in 1950. Dorothy served as librarian at the Morton Grove Public Library for 35 years, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She and Stanley enjoyed traveling to a variety of locations including Europe, Egypt, Canada as well as her favorite place, Hawaii. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and needlecraft. Dorothy and Stanley had been residents of Minnesota since 2001.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Stanley and grandson, Michael. Survived by sons, James and Robert (Bonnie); grandchildren, Jeffery (Staci) Thommes, Lori (Scott) Colaw, Nicholas (Nicole) Thommes, Julie (Christopher) Fouquette, Christian (Nikola) Thommes and Gerald (Billie Jo) Thommes as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
