'Dot' age 75 of St. Paul Park on Wednesday evening May 24, 2006 at United Hospital in St. Paul.
All who know Dot think of her beautiful gardens. Her life was dedicated to planting, growing and nurturing. She tenderly cultivated young minds as an inspiring school teacher. She planted skills and confidence in others by diligently coaching tennis and other sports. She developed and nurtured family and friends with her sensitivity, humor, compassion and tremendous faith.
Dorothy Marie Storby was born January 9, 1931 in Brillion, Wisconsin the daughter of Herman & Viola (Bergander) Behnke.She was raised in Brillion and graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac in 1949. She was an elementary teacher who began her teaching career as a missionary at Apache Indian Reservation in 1951. In 1954 she taught in Tomah, Wisconsin before returning to Arizona. On June 12, 1955 Dot married Philip Wesley Storby in Brillion, Wisconsin. They moved to Minnesota in 1962. Here Dot taught at St. Andrew's Lutheran School in St. Paul park as a kindergarten teacher. She worked as a librarian in the Washington County Library System and also coached tennis. She loved gardening and played women's softball.
Her loving family includes her husband of 50 years Philip; loving mother of Steven (Patricia), Ruth (Geoff) Bergeron, Beverly (Perry) Abel, Barbara (Steven) Johnson; precious grandmother of Stefanie, Joel, Jennie, Faith, Bethany, Aaron, Rachelle, Rami; great-grandchildren Adam, Samuel, William; cherished sister of Mildred Behnke, Harvey (Heidi) Behnke, Donald (Elaine) Behnke; sisters & brothers-in-law Allen (Linda) Storby, Louise (Milo) Lien, Gene (Suzie) Storby, Marie Hinkley; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, brother Leroy.
Memorial Service 2 PM Sunday at ST. ANDREW'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1000 Portland Ave, St. Paul Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Christ The Lord Lutheran Church banner/alter fund.
