Dorothy R. Haller, 91, of Cottage Grove, formerly of Newport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, April 12, 2006 at the Maplewood Care Center in Maplewood.
Dorothy R. Haller was born March 7, 1915 in Forest Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Chester and Ellen (Purmort) Rapp. She was raised in Forest Lake and graduated from Forest Lake High School. She moved to Saint Paul and worked at the Saint Paul Athletic Club and was later united in marriage to Alvin Haller. The couple owned the Home Cafeteria for a number of years while making their home in Saint Paul. In 1954, they moved to Newport. Dorothy had worked in the Classifieds Department at the Pioneer Press. She gave piano lessons, loved to garden, was active in her church, enjoyed people and especially helping those in need.
She is survived by her daughter Joanne Neihart, son Gerald Haller and his wife Diane and granddaughter Janet Neihart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin and two brothers; Paul & Richard.
