Dorothy Marie Dirtzu

Dorothy Marie Dirtzu passed away peacefully in her sleep early in the morning of May 6th. Dorothy was born on August 16, 1930 to Ferdinand and Lydia Urtel. Along with her brother Gordon, the family lived on the East Side in St. Paul. She graduated from Harding High School and had a talent for playing accordion and accounting. Dorothy and her beloved George were married December 18, 1948. Together they built a home and raised their four children on Grey Cloud Trail in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Over the years Dorothy worked for Sears, Simeks, Mississippi Dunes and Kohls. Dorothy loved being outdoors! Watching wildlife in the back yard while enjoying a cup of coffee or sitting by a campfire. She was also a wonderful cook - always trying something new.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Ferdinand and Lydia, brother Gordon, husband George daughter Gretchen Jeske, daughter-in-law Debbie Dirtzu and grandson Kyle Dirtzu. She is survived by her children Nancy (Dick) Feiock, David (Joni) Dirtzu and Scott (Debbie) Dirtzu, grandchildren; Joseph (Cheryl) Jeske, Lawrence Jeske, Micki Dirtzu, Brooke (David Escobar) Dirtzu, Brittany (Daniel Gallegos) Dirtzu, Lindsey (Matt) Deiman, Melissa Wells (Nate Ockwig), Julie (Bobby) Moody, great-grandchildren; Trevor, Nicholas, Jaeden, Violeta, Tala, Henry, Finn, Isaiah, Titus, Grace, Jacob, Cadence and Melody.

A Memorial Service at All Saints Lutheran Church in the 'Great Room' - 8100 Belden Blvd., Cottage Grove will be held at 10:30 to 11:30 am on Sunday, June 9, 2024 with a time of gathering afterwards. Interment will be at Cottage Grove Cemetery.

The family wants to thank the staff and caregivers at Prelude Homes in Woodbury and Grace Hospice for the love and care they gave Dorothy since March 16, 2023.
