Donald Olsen

Donald E. Olsen, age 84 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 8, 2022.

Don will always be remembered as a people person; he loved everyone he met. Don had the honor of being a 33rd Degree Mason and an active member of the Capital City Lodge and the Ancient Landmark Lodge for over 60 years. Don was very well known and respected, across the state of MN, for his Ritualistic Work with the Scottish Rite. Don also enjoyed being a Shriner and an actor at local community theaters.

Don was a friend of Bill W.

Don is the beloved husband of Mary Yates and survived by children, Wade (Kathleen) Olsen of Eagan, MN, John Olsen of Scottsdale, AZ, and Amy (Dennis Rodahl) Yates of Harmony, MN; grandchildren, Kristen (Ben) Rodriguez, Elizabeth Olsen, Joseph Olsen, and Brett (Nick) Lovgren Feige; great grandchild, Ember Rodriguez; brother, Bob Olsen of Seattle, WA; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Lucille; sister, Cheri Olsen; and grandchild, Emily Olsen.

A memorial service will be held at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th Street South, Cottage Grove, MN) on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 11am, with visitation beginning at 9am. Don will be laid to rest at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center and the Alzheimer’s Association.
