Donald J. Cohoon, Jr., 59 of Cottage Grove, died on Tuesday afternoon, September 4, 2007 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
Donald J. Cohoon Jr., was born December 4, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Donald J. and Catherine (Keenan) Cohoon Sr. He graduated from Harding High School in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Bonnie M. Kadlec on July 6, 1968 in St. Paul. The couple made their home in various areas during his numerous tours in the Army including; Panama, Fort Knox, Kentucky, recruiting duty in Wisconsin, then Minnesota, Kentucky and Germany. In June of 1989 the couple moved to Cottage Grove and Donald retired from the Army as a 1st Sgt. He later worked as the Washington County Veteran Service Officer and in 2002 he became employed with Up North Plastics in Cottage Grove.
Donald especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren, he was a good husband, father, grandfather and brother. Enjoyed vacationing with his wife in Hawaii, loved computers, motorcycling and cruises.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bonnie of Cottage Grove, son; John (Anne) Cohoon of Prescott, Wisconsin, daughters; Dawn (Diego) Cohoon, Christine ( Mike) Silvis all of Cottage Grove, his grandchildren; Anthony, Alex, Ariana, Abby, Michael, Ian, Michaela, Alayna & Zachary, his mother-in-law; Agnes Kadlec of St. Paul, his brother; Thomas, sisters; Mimi (Fred) Ballantine, Ginny (Cliff) Mohney, Terry Johnson, Pat (Oran) Wollenburg, and Toni (Steve) Hertel. His sisters-in-law; Carol (Roger) Tveit, Patrice (Rick) Peterson, Annette (Bert) Sass, brothers-in-law; Thomas (Paulette) Kadlec, Martin (Theresa) Kadlec, Edward (Carol) Kadlec, Leonard (Linda) Kadlec, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Donna and father-in-law; Arthur.
