Delores "Dee" Greenwood

Delores “Dee” Greenwood, age 88 of Cottage Grove, passed away June 6, 2022.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Friday, June 24, 2022 with visitation one hour prior at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park.  Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Delores “Dee” Josephine Greenwood was born March 13, 1934, at the family farm in Willey, Iowa to Bernard and Mary Grossman.  She was the 10th of 11 children and was proud to have to have been a graduate of St. Angela Academy in Carroll, Iowa in 1952.  Dee met the love of her life, James “Jim” Greenwood and they were united in marriage on July 17, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey, IA.  As they started their family, they lived in a variety of places due to Jim’s employment as a lineman with a power company and international representative for the IBEW.

During her working career, she enjoyed her employment with the school district the most where she served as a bus driver and teachers’ aide.  She had a likeable personality and genuinely made people feel cared for.  Dee kept an immaculate house and loved to keep things clean and organized.  She was an outgoing, likable person who brought a lot of laughter and had a smile that would light up the room.

Dee was an amazing grandma who loved her grandchildren and looked for ways to make them feel special.  She and Jim enjoyed travelling to various places including Rome, Washington DC, Hawaii, Door County as well as many winter months in Bradenton, FL.

Dee is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jim; children Cyndi (Brian) Peterson, Karen (Randy) Couey, Kristi (Felix) Kerawala, Craig (Judy) Greenwood, Steve (fiancé Teresa Greene) Greenwood; 14 grandchildren; sister Imelda Kerkhoff as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings.
