Delores Ashby

Delores Ashby, age 83 of Cottage Grove, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Inver Grove Heights.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 - 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be preferred to the American Diabetes Society.

Delores Grace Ashby was born at home on August 6, 1933 in Lampson, Wisconsin to Floyd and Grace (Lamb) Swanson. She moved to Minneapolis where she finished her high school education. She moved to Chicago where she was married to Adolph Klein in 1948 until his unexpected death in 1954. She was married to Thomas Vogler and the couple lived in Franklin Park, Illinois until he passed away in 1964. Delores was working as a waitress at the O'Hare International Airport where she met Winston "Jerry" Ashby and they were united in marriage in Chicago in 1969. They moved to Cottage Grove in 1996 and they continued to be longtime summer residents in the Lampson Minong are in Wisconsin. Delores enjoyed gardening, cooking and watching football and international travelling with Jerry.

Delores is survived by her children, Brenda Higgins, Terry (Suzie) Klein and Debra (Mark) Thompson; grandchildren, Jeffery (Rob Spiking) Perkey and Phillip Thompson; sister Joyce Wozny. She is preceded in death by her husbands; parents and brother Dick Lamb.
