Deborah “Deb” Jean (Jablonski) Mason of St Paul Park passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Deb is the daughter of Luverne “Vern” and Elizabeth “Betty Mae” (Marx) Jablonski. She was born on March 12, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas and grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Deb earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Catherine.
Deb’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved being both Mom and Maama (Grandma.) She was fully engaged in her children and grandchildren’s lives, from Girl Scout Troop leader to traveling hockey mom to helping raise the grandchildren. Family was everything to Deb.
Deb was known for her hospitality and generous spirit. No one left her house without a take home container of homemade food. When Deb wasn’t busy being a Maama to her grandkids, she gave her time and skills to the community. She volunteered for local organizations including the board of Cottage Grove Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and Basic Needs, Inc. Her passion for social work and seniors echoed through her actions. In 2020 she raised enough funds to send flowers to more than 300 homebound nursing home seniors. Only second to her time with family, helping and bringing joy to others was her greatest passion. She was always there to offer encouraging words, and lend a listening ear while others were in a tough time. Even while retired, Deb was actively helping members of the community locate eldercare right up to her passing.
Deb is survived by her four children: Mike, Sarah, Alicia and Mark; five grandchildren: Tristian, G, Annika, Sebastian and Sierra Bella; her nine brothers and sisters: Kathy, Steve, Sue, Julie, Beth, Dave, Lisa, Dean, and Dan; and her stepmother Virginia “Ginny.” Deb is preceded in death by her parents and baby brother Mark.
