David “Dav” and Ruth Johnson, aged 60 years old, both passed away on September 21, 2021.
They had been lifelong companions, having been introduced at a very young age due to the fact that the Schottmuller’s were friends with the Johnson. Their families got together on a regular basis and even took camping trips together. It wasn’t until their high school year that they started dating. They graduated from high school in 1979, Dav from Park High School and Ruth from Woodbury High School. They were united in marriage on Friday, August 13, 1982 at St. Thomas Aquinas and made their home in St. Paul Park where they had lived for the past 40 years.
Dav started working at Western Electric where he worked with his dad, Kenneth for a short time. He took his training as a draftsman and then worked at Ramsey Engineering and Toro for the next several years. He ended his career with Tenent, but after retirement he drove bus, served as the “lunch lady” at school and took pride in his gardening skills. He loved to tinker on things and spend time woodworking.
Ruth started in the healthcare field at United Hospital and then worked at the Children’s Hospital as a Health Unit Coordinator. Over the past 41 years she enjoyed working with so many of the families that came through the hospital, but her heart was drawn to spending time with those precious babies.
Through the years, they were very active with their son’s activities and supported them in every way. Together they loved camping, going on road trips, and spending time with their family.
They are survived by their sons Benjamin, Zakary, Niklaus and Rylee; granddaughter Aubree; Dav’s siblings Brenda, Cindy and Anna. Ruth’s mom, Karen; siblings Joel and Tara as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
