David Conrad

David H. Conrad 69 of Cottage Grove/St. Paul Park died peacefully on September 21, 2016 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born to Clarence & Hollis (Mozio) Conrad on November 7, 1946 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He spent his entire life in St. Paul Park, graduating from Park High School in 1965. After high school Dave enlisted in the Marines, serving our country in Vietnam and was awarded numerous medals. He was very proud of being a Marine and dedicated many years to fellow veterans. After discharge, Dave spent his career on the road driving truck. When he wasn't driving, he was an active member of the Teamsters Local 120. Dave was a 49 year member of the American Legion Post 98 and the 40 & 8 club and served as the Commander of the Honor Guard for 47 years honoring veterans who passed before him. David had a special place in his heart for Toys for Tots; collecting hundreds of toys over the years. He married Ruth 17 years ago on the beaches of Cancun, and enjoyed all the fun times they had together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Ruth; children David Jr. (Naomi), Lynn (Kevin), William; step children Angela (Tim) Carrier, Matthew Jensen; grandchildren Ryo, Ian, Joshua, Logan, Damian, Darian, Alexis, Michael, Lamont, Josie, Tyler, Amber, Adam; great grandson Yuiki; sister Margie Bressler; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
Dave is preceded in death by parents; siblings Chuck, Jim, Betty, Penny, and Pinky.
Funeral service 11:30 Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th St. S. Cottage Grove) with visitation 4-8 Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to service. Interment with military honors at Newport Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
