Daryl Moen

Daryl Brent Moen, age 71, of Cottage Grove, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022. We are comforted that he is now with his savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Ortonville, MN on June 28, 1950, the youngest of 8 children, to Paul I. and Avis (Robertson) Moen. He grew up on the family farm in Artichoke Township and graduated from Ortonville High School in 1968. He moved to the Minneapolis area to work in construction with his brother Paul Moen where they built homes together for many years. Then in 2001, he and his sister Avis Moen moved to Hope Glen Farm in Cottage Grove, MN.  Daryl was a treasured part of the farm and the family for the last 21 years and is dearly missed. He was often seen driving the John Deere tractor and was easy to talk to with fun stories to tell. He loved his family, motorcycles, Nascar, going to garage sales with his sister and working on projects in his shop. Our family had a special appreciation for Daryl’s life because he miraculously survived a double brain aneurism back in the 1980’s. It is by God’s amazing grace that he survived because very few people live through a medical crisis like that. In addition, he had several mini strokes later, yet lived a full productive life all of these many years until his recent stroke. We have a deep gratitude for his life and thank God for the gift of Daryl’s many years with us. Preceded in death by his beloved son Jon Paul Moen, by his parents Paul Ingvold Moen and Avis Elvina (Robertson) Moen, his brothers Donald Moen, Paul (Shirley Knoll) Moen and Dennis Moen and his sisters Donna (Orlie) Bartholomay and Darlaine (Leo) Johnson. He is survived by his sister Ruth (Vernon) Strege of Valparaiso, Indiana and his sister Avis M. Moen of Cottage Grove, MN. and his sister-in-law Faith (Erickson) Moen of Forest Lake, MN. In addition, there are many loving nieces, nephews and their families who loved him dearly.

Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, May 13, 2022, followed by lunch at Hope Glen Farm, 10276 E Pt Douglas Rd S, Cottage Grove, MN, 55016. Interment will be Saturday, May 14, 2022, 1:00 PM, Artichoke Lake Baptist Cemetery, 35114 600th Ave, Correll, MN, 56227 (near Ortonville, MN).
