Daniel Tate

Daniel Tate, age 84, of Somerset, WI, formerly of Cottage Grove, passed away November 8, 2018 at Christian Community Home in Hudson, Wisconsin.

Memorial Mass will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park with visitation one hour prior.  Memorials may be directed to Lakeview Hospice, 1715 Tower Drive W., Stillwater, MN 55082.

Daniel Elmer Tate was born March 27, 1934 in Webster City, Iowa to John and Luella (Brown) Tate.  He entered the US Navy where he served during the Korean War.  He completed his education in Webster City before moving to Minneapolis where he attended the Dunwoody Institute.  Daniel married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Jennie Hoover on July 3, 1959.  They lived in Cottage Grove and he was employed by The Whirlpool Corporation as a supervisor on the manufacturing side.  He loved his family and enjoyed going to their events through the years and being involved in local plays as an actor.  When the company moved to Kentucky, Daniel and Jennie moved to Danville where they lived for several years.  He enjoyed golfing and going out for coffee.  In 1995 they built a home in Somerset, Wisconsin where they enjoyed several years together.

He is survived by wife Jennie; sons Rory (Sheridee); Dirk (Julie); grandchildren Randi (Pat) Forliti, Samantha (significant other John) Tate, Kirsten (Jamis) Keding, Michelle (Frank) Curcio, Daniel (Nicole) Tate, Alexander and Caitlin Tate; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Marcella (Virgil) Mourlam as well as nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by daughter Rebecca Turner; parents John and Luella; sisters Mary Hammitt, Patricia Chelsvig and brothers Thomas, William.
