Daisy M. Meyers, 86, formerly of Cottage Grove & Newport, died Wednesday morning, December 16, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society in Inver Grove Heights following a lengthy illness.
Daisy M. Meyers was born December 28, 1922 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Henry Andrew and Sylvia Agnes (O’Connor) Westermeyer. She moved with her family at an early age to Minnesota and grew up in St. Paul Park. Following school, she enlisted in the United States Marines and served during WWII. She was united in marriage to E.H. Jack Meyers on April 28, 1945 in Newport. The couple continued their service to country and settled in St. Paul following the war. Later they moved to Newport and she was active at Newport Lutheran Church in the women’s groups and taught Sunday school. She especially enjoyed her family and stayed active in life bowling.
Daisy is survived by her three daughters, Karen (Mike) Stoven of Oakdale, Marlene (Joe Wittl) Williams of Rosemount & Bonnie Meyers of Oakdale, her grandchildren; Julie Dubak, Adam Peoples, Allan & Kevin Hirte, her great-grandchildren; Jessica, Emily & Tom and her brother, Jack Westermeyer of South St. Paul.
She was preceded by her husband, E.H. Jack Meyers, granddaughter, Amy Peoples and her brother, Clarence Westermeyer.
