Curtis Young Sr

Curtis A. Young Sr., age 68 of Cottage Grove, passed away June 25, 2015 at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, Minnesota.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, June 30th at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park with a masonic service at 7:00 pm. Funeral at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 1st at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in the Cottage Grove Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.

Curtis Allan Young Sr. was born September 4, 1946 in St. Peter, Minnesota to Victor and Edna (Oswald) Young. At a young age, the family moved to St. Paul Park where he graduated from Park High School in 1964. While in high school he was in the Naval Reserves and went on to active duty where he stationed on the USS Essex. Following his military service, he met Arlene Laszcwski and they were later married at St. Peter's Catholic Church in 1968. Curt worked at the St. Paul Park refinery where he was a supervisor for many years until his retirement in 2005. He later picked up a job with the TSA that kept him active for a few years. Curt was a "history buff" and sports enthusiast who loved to watch football and baseball. As his children were growing up, he enjoyed being involved in a variety of their activities. He served as a volunteer firefighter with the Inver Grove Fire Department as well as a member of the fire brigade at the refinery for several years. Curt enjoyed trips up north and occasionally followed a spontaneous urge to go on road trips with Arlene.

Curt is survived by his wife of 47 years, Arlene; children, Curtis Jr., Pamela, Kimberly and Joshua; granddaughter, Ava; brother, Neil (Pat), sister, Marcia Evans; sister-in-law, Judy Young and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Edna; brother, Arthur; nephew, Robert and brother-in-law, Art Evans.
