Curtis "Curt" Kostelecky, age 75, of St. Paul Park, MN passed away peacefully with family by his side on July 1, 2024.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Friday, July 12, 2024 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 920 Holley Ave.; St. Paul Park, MN with visitation from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Interment and military honors will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery following service with a lunch to follow.

Curt was born August 9, 1948 to William & Marie (Sadowsky) Kostelecky in Dickinson, North Dakota. He lived with family there until he was about 7 years old. From there he and the family lived in St. Paul for a couple of years. Then to Cottage Grove in 1958. Curt was a very proud graduate of the University of Minnesota.  He owned a home in St. Paul Park and then Inver Grove Heights while working most of his career at the Post Office. He chose to be in the comfort of family fourteen years ago when he moved in with his sister (Janet Dickey’s) family in St. Paul Park. He lived his final 14 years with a loving, caring, often chaotic family. He loved all of family life. Holidays at his sister, Joanie’s, gave him something special to look forward to. He enjoyed visits from Parker. He loved watching the great nieces ride their bikes and play in the front yard. Very much like his Uncle Bud, he loved to tease and have fun with the kids. He felt so warm and proud of his family. Curt had pride in being a “grandpa”. He never would have had any pets when he was alone. His sister’s pets would entertain him daily. Curt always had a ball of string in his pocket for the cat. The animals put a smile on his face every single day.

Curt always had a great time at the St. Paul Saints baseball games. As a season ticket holder, he would love sharing this event with his siblings, nieces and nephews. State hockey tournaments also brought time together with his brother Jeff, Mark Oszman and Mike Romanchuk, which of course also meant a stop to the liquor store. He also enjoyed watching football, baseball, golf and keeping stats on all the players. Curt will be remembered as a man of devotion and prayer with a great love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all.

Curt is survived by his siblings Marcy Miesen, Jeff Kostelecky, Janet Dickey, Julie (Jerry) Bloomquist, Teri (Jeff Swanson) Kostelecky, Joanie (Guy) Pankonin, Michelle Mencacci, Craig (Mai) Kostelecky and Suzie (Eddie) Mays; goddaughters Michelle Mencacci, Stephanie Flasch, Jeanne Bloomquist and Sarah Kostelecky; and several nieces and nephews. Curt is preceded in death by his parents William and Marie Kostelecky; brothers-in-law Craig Dickey, Mark Miesen and Tony Mencacci; and godmother Sally Grasser.
