Curtis H. Horn, age 82 of Oakdale, formerly of Cottage Grove, passed away November 22, 2016.
Memorial service 11 am, Monday, November 28, 2016 at Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church, 6875 Jamaica Ave. S, Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Private family interment Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing. Memorials may be directed to Health East Hospice or Echo Ridge Senior Living in Oakdale.
Curtis Henry Horn was born July 21, 1934 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Walter and Lucille (Voth) Horn. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 1952 and entered the US Army. He worked for the grain elevator in Red Wing for a short time and in 1958, he started working for Braniff Airlines where he served as a baggage handler until 1982. Shortly thereafter, he took on a year-round position at Afton Alps in the grounds maintenance department. Curtis was a warm, unpretentious person. He enjoyed his morning coffee group at Echo Ridge Senior Living and spending time with family. Curtis was an active member of Rose of Sharon Lutheran where he served as trustee, usher and in volunteered in various other opportunities. He courageously battled his multiple myeloma and other health issues over the past 5 years.
Curtis is survived by brother James (Audrey); sisters Lois (Art) Plath, Judy (Gene) Rummel; brother-in-law, Ken Bahlman; sister-in-law, Lana Horn. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Glenda Bahlman and brother Larry Horn.
In a quiet way, what really mattered to Curtis was spending eternity with God.
