Clarence was born July 19, 1929 in Henderson, Minnesota the son of Alfred & Esther (Lawrence) Berger. He was raised on a farm in Henderson. Clarence served in the United States Army. On May 22, 1954 he was united in marriage with Irma Nelson at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in St. Paul.
Clarence was an avid gardener, a prized pumpkin grower, a sportsman, and a bingo enthusiast. He enjoyed visiting Las Vegas. Clarence loved life and was a devoted grandpa who enjoyed playing with his grandkids. He frequently went to auctions; was a member of the VFW, and had been an original volunteer with the Cottage Grove Fire Department. Clarence was a member of Teamsters Local 120.
He is the beloved husband of Irma for 56 years; loving father of Chuck (Fay), Donna (Greg) Fern, Diane Bakken, Scott (Sandy), Gary, Debbie (Michael) Adair; grandchildren Zachary, Stephanie, Josh, Bruce Jr., David, Erica, Weston, Michelle, Nicole, Anthony, Alec, Anna, Ashton; great-grandchildren Sonny, Noah, Teigan, Zayne, Caleb; sisters and brothers Rosemary Doerr, George (Mary), Leo, Elaine, Eileen O’Leary; sister-in-law Carol (Jim) Behr; many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by brother Bernard; sisters Louise & Dorothy. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Friday at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS Catholic CHURCH, 920 Holley, St. Paul Park.
