Chris Richard Helgason

Chris Richard Helgason, 66, passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2023. Chris was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. Preceded in death by his parents Hallgrimur & Melva Helgason and grandson Hawkin Dahn. He is survived by his loving wife & best friend of 42 years, Patty, his two daughters Afton (Luke) Dahn, Ashley Helgason, grandsons Ryker and Bowen Dahn; three brothers Jon (Karen) Helgason, Jim (Lesle) Helgason, Charles (Laurie) Helgason; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Chris was an enigmatic man, with a kind, welcoming, and ever-generous heart. He had a larger than life personality, enjoying sports, telling stories, and embracing everyone that he met. Family and friends were at the center of his world, and he could oftentimes be found cheering others on at a sporting event (he was his grandsons’ number one fan), serving as co-captain to his brothers Jim or Charles when venturing across the U.S., fishing, or lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Most of all, he loved spending quality time with those closest to him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 9 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, with a prayer service at 5:00 PM, at 5645 Annette Avenue East, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077. Private family interment at Pine Glen Cemetery, Prescott, WI.
