CHARLES WILLIAM WYLIE

Charles(Chuck) William Wylie, age 69 of Cottage Grove, MN died peacefully surrounded by his family on December 19, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Our Lady of Peace Care Center.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm Thursday, December 22, 2011 at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 7676 80th Street S, Cottage Grove. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Friday, Dec 23, 2011 at, ST. RITA'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 8694 80th Street S, COTTAGE GROVE, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery with military honors.

Charles William Wylie, the son of Charles and Arline (Hansen) Wylie was born June 6, 1942 in St. Paul. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Washington High School in 1960. He entered active duty in the US Army and served his country while stationed in Germany and at Ft. Snelling. Following his military service he took a job for a few years in the photo department at Sears before getting hired at 3M which proved to be a long term position. He worked there for 33 years until his retirement in 2002.

Charles was united in marriage to Kathleen Gaertner on August 29, 1964 in St. Paul. After living in St. Paul for a few years they moved to Cottage Grove in 1971 where they raised their four children. Kathleen died on August 16, 2005. Chuck loved to go camping and was part of a group that made regular camping outings to various places. He also enjoyed traveling and spent many enjoyable days in places like Upper Cullen Lake near Nisswa, parts of Florida, Arizona and Las Vegas. He was known as a loyal and committed family man with a great laugh. He was joined in marriage to Barbara Lauen on April 29th, 2006, and they enjoyed retirement years together.

Survived by wife Barbara; children, Mary Jo (Michael) Nohava, Christine Hassard, Richard (Sheila), Timothy (Kimberly); 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sibling, Susan (Gary) Farrell and many loved relatives and friends. Member of St. Rita's Church for 40 yrs. Charles was joined on the other side by first wife Kathy (Gaertner) Wylie; parents, Charles and Arline; brothers, Dennis, Duane and Jeffrey.

Casketbearers will be Tyler Wylie, William and Matthew Hassard, Doug, Dan and Eric Wylie.
