Carol Fortune

Carol A. (nee Parnell and Post) Fortune, age 83 of Cottage Grove, passed away Feb. 2, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral will be 10:00 am, Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park. Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove and also for one hour prior to the service at church. Interment St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Somerset, WI. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Carol was born January 31, 1932 in Somerset, Wisconsin to Narcisse and Elmire (Rivard) Parnell. She graduated from St. Anne's Catholic School and enjoyed many trips down the Apple River as she grew up. Carol was a lifelong resident of Cottage Grove and one of the first residents in the first Orrin Thompson development. Her family loved her dearly and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Carol enjoyed shopping and was always looking for a "good sale." She was a terrific cook and baker who always made sure her freezer was full of bake goods when someone would stop by. Carol looked forward to returning to Somerset to celebrate Pea Soup Days and connect with family and good friends. A special thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Nelson and the Norris Square Staff for their care.

Carol is preceded by first husband Herbert W. Post Jr.; parents, Narcisse and Elmire Parnell; son-in-law, Brad Olson, brother Dale (and wife Donna) Parnell and brothers-in-law Milford Tobin and Dick Tilkin. Survived by husband George; daughter Debbie Olson; sons Richard (Pam) Post, Bob Post and Randy Post; 8 grandchildren, Mike Post, Carli Sam, Katie Heinritz Aaron Post, Gina Post, Jessica Post, Dave Olson and Dan Olson; 9 great-grandchildren, Austin, Benjamin and Claire Sam, Natalie and Alaina Post, Carolina, Emelia, Lila and Magnolia Heinritz; sister Anita Tobin; sister-in-law Cynthia Tilkin and several nieces and nephews.
