Carl Arthur Aegler

March 9, 1947 — February 5, 2025

Cottage Grove

Carl Aegler, age 77, was born on March 9, 1947 in rural Cresco, IA to Art and Leona Aegler. Carl left this world for the next on February 5th, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be at 4:30 PM on Friday, February 28, 2025, with a visitation from 3:30 - 4:30 PM at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S.; Cottage Grove, MN. Private interment will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.

Carl was many things...a farm boy turned city dweller, a proud member of the USAF, serving from 1967 to 1971, a student from kindergarten through earning his Doctorate in Education. He often claimed he was "educated beyond his intelligence". He was a hard worker, no matter the job, taking pride in pumping gas in the 70's to teaching and then becoming an elementary school principal in South Washington County School District. Carl was a sports nut, both as a participant in just about any sport one can think of and also an avid spectator. His beloved Iowa Hawkeyes was his forever team. In his lifetime, he was lucky to be able to visit so many countries, learning to appreciate other cultures.

What Carl was BEST at was loving his family. He was every kind of relative, loving them all. He was the BEST husband for his wife, Diane. They were married 50 years in June. He was the BEST father for their son, Michael and the BEST father figure for Michael's partner, Brad.

To all those who knew him, you know he lived life to the fullest extent. He even went sky diving! To all those who knew him, know he felt lucky to know you! Carl was not a saint, just an ordinary guy who never took more than he gave. We all loved him and will miss him so very much..

Carl is preceded in death by his father, Art Aegler; his mother, Leona Aegler and his nephew, Mark Jertson. He is survived by his life's love, wife Diane; the child of his heart, son Michael (Brad); his beautiful sisters Susan, Marian and Marty and so many other family members.

The family is deeply grateful for all your prayers, love and support.

Memorial donations can be directed to the Veteran's Home of Minnesota;5101 Minnehaha Ave.; Minneapolis, MN 55417 in memory of Carl.
