Bonita “Bonnie” Bresnahan, 75 of Cottage Grove, passed away at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood on the morning of July 29, 2009.
Bonnie was born August 1, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Frederick J. and Catherine (Niedermeyer) Hendel. She grew up in Frogtown and graduated from Washington High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Merton E. Bresnahan on February 11, 1956 in St. Paul. The couple made their home on the east side where she raised her children and in 1995 they moved to Cottage Grove. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren, cooking, working in the grennhouse and was a woman with a strong faith. In later years she had taught water aerobics at the YMCA and worked for a time at Edith Miller Florists.
She is survived by her loving husband, Merton of 53 years, cherished by her children; Colleen Bresnahan, Maureen (Mike) Yauch, Dennis (Michelle) Bresnahan, Shannon Bresnahan, Sheila (Stephen) Dreiling, Brenda (Mark) Schwieters & Timmy Bresnahan, adored by twelve grandchildren, her siblings; Yvonne Bell, Bob (Kathie) Hendel & Judy Ulm. She was preceded by her infant daughter, Sheryl and her son, Kevin.
Funeral Mass, 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2009, ST. RITA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 8694 80th Street, Cottage Grove. Visitation 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday with a 6:30 Rosary at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street,Cottage Grove and one hour prior Monday at church. Burial in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
