Bernice Rogers

Bernice Rogers, age 82 of Woodbury, formerly of St. Paul Park, passed away on February 5, 2018 at her home under the care of her beloved family.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am, Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4125 Woodbury Drive, Woodbury.  Visitation will be Thursday, Feburary 8, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kok Funeral Home, 7676-80th Street S., Cottage Grove as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.

Bernice Rogers was born March 5, 1935 in Hastings, Minnesota to Henry and Elizabeth (Fox) Halfen.  She graduated from Hastings High School in 1953 and went onto work for Smead Manufacturing for a short time until taking a position at 3M.  Bernice met Phillip in 1956 and were united in marriage on June 4, 1960.  They moved to Texas for a short time for Phillip to complete his military service until moving back to Minnesota in 1961.  She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crafts, tatting, ceramics, cooking and baking.  Bernice served as the secretary to the Cottage Grove Fire Chief for 17 years and was deeply involved in the Ambrosians group at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Through the years Bernice lovingly managed all of her son Brian’s care following his accident in 1990.  Bernice had a heart of hospitality and loved to take care of those around her.  Her main focus was her family, which she devoted her life and heart to.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 57 years, Phillip; children: Tim (Sue), Ann, Mike (Andrea), Dan, Brian, Charley (Krista); 11 grandchildren: Paul, Becky, Nicole, Lauren, Sara, Noah, Jacob, Ben, Katy, Maria and Joshua; twin sister, Beatrice (John) Kingston, sister, Martha (Bruce) Austad.  Preceded in death by her parents; brother Norbert Halfen.
