age 65 of Regina Nursing Home died early Thursday morning, November 29, 2007.



Barbara Jean Halvorson was born on September 6, 1942 in Whitamore, Iowa to Kenneth and Ardith Gilbaugh Halvorson. She was a 1960 graduate of Sentral High School in Fenton, IA, and a 1962 graduate of the Lutheran Bible Institute in Golden Valley, MN. She married Noel Westlind on June 29, 1963 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Ringstad, IA. They began their life together on the Westlind farm near Cando, ND. In later years, they lived in Mankato, St. Paul, Marshall and Cottage Grove, MN. She worked for the Billy Graham Association and the John Deere Corporation in Minneapolis, MN and after marriage, helped with the farm work, worked for the Dairy Land, and the Towner County Treasurers Office. She worked in sales and bookkeeping while in Marshall. She was an active participant in the Lutheran Churches in Cando, ND, St. Paul, MN, Marshall, MN and Cottage Grove, MN. She entered Regina Nursing Home in Hastings in September 1995 and was an inspiration for us by her faith in God.



She is survived by her husband Noel; children Lauri (Jozef) Gugulski, Catherine (Darrel) Smith, Michael (Donna) Westlind; nine grandchildren Joanna, Nicole, Jessica, and Hannah Gugulski; David, Noel and Aaron Smith; and Paul and Annett Fetting-Westlind; brother Merle Halvorson, niece Lisa Rongved, and nephews Jason and Ryan Halvorson. Visitation 4-8 PM Wednesday December 5 at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 7676 80TH St. S. Cottage Grove, Minnesota (651-459-2875). Funeral Service in the Spring. In lieu of flowers memorials to Michael J. Fox Foundation.
