Barbara Ann Vorderbruggen (nee Jones)

Barbara Ann Vorderbruggen (nee Jones), age 77, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024. 

Born to Ray and Isabelle Jones, Barbara was raised on the East side of St. Paul along with her sisters, Peg and Carol with a strong Catholic faith. She would later marry the love of her life, Daniel and move to the North End of St. Paul where they would raise their three boys, Keith, David, & Mark, and live their whole married lives. In 2012, Barbara moved to Norris Square in Cottage Grove to be closer to family. 

Barb was a wonderful person with a kind heart and will be missed by the many people who were fortunate enough to have met her. She was very social and loved to chat throughout her years with friends and family, or anyone with a friendly face and a cup of coffee. She was always thinking of others and frequently donated her time to things like running BINGO at Norris Square, sorting books for the library there, and to buying things for other people that she thought they could use. Until she retired in the early 2000’s, she also enjoyed working for over 20 years as a radiation therapist, treating cancer patients at St. Joseph’s Hospital. 

Family was always the center of Barbara’s world, and she loved her three sons and grandchildren to pieces. She told them so all the time. She had no bigger smile on her face than when she was in the company of her beloved grandkids. Not a single person ever missed a hug around Barb, either as she made sure she said hello and goodbye to everyone in the room. When she wasn’t chatting, Barbara enjoyed just sitting back and watching the family conversation. She added her own kind of glow, just by being there. We know her glow isn’t gone; it just shines somewhere else now. 

Saying goodbye is hard. Barbara’s goodbye is made easier only because we know she is at peace with her Lord and reunited with Dan. 

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel. She is survived by sons, Keith (Dawn), Dave (Andrea), and Mark; grandchildren, Mason, Julia, Ray, and Sarah; sisters, Peg Jones and Carol Clark Jones. 

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10 AM, Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Church of St. Rita, 8694 80th St. S., Cottage Grove, MN 55016.
