Barbara Long

Barbara Lucille Long, 86, of Cottage Grove, our beloved Godly mother passed away on September 25, 2017. She was born October 30, 1930 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Randall and Vera (Nelson) Klinefelter. She graduated from Estherville High School in Iowa and then attended Methodist- Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. She met Bruce Long and they were united in marriage on March 5, 1961 in St. Paul. Barb went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Nursing. She set aside career aspirations to raise her children.
Barb was very active in local politics and in 1986 & 1992 to ran for MN House of Representatives, and always made herself available to support her community.
Most important to Barb was her Christian faith. Her faith was shown in her hospitality. She opened her home for many families and students from the New Life family. She taught Sunday school for several years. Barb memorized hundreds of scripture verses which inspired those around her. She was a diligent student of the Bible and loved God more than anything.
Barb is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; two infant sons; brother David Klinefelter; parents, Randall and Vera. Survived by children, Scott, Susan (Dalen) Gudmunson; grandchildren, Natalie, Joshua, Kyle (Kassarah); sister Ginny (Ron) Edwards; sister-in-law Berna Klinefelter; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service 3:30 Sunday, Oct. 1 at New Life Church (6758 Bailey Rd. Woodbury) with a visitation starting at 2:30. Private interment Roselawn Cemetery, Roseville, MN.
